Our History

Joseph H. Claudon and his father, D. N. Claudon, began a general insurance agency in Valparaiso, Indiana, in 1939. With the addition of son-in-law Charles Anderson in 1945 and of grandsons William and Barth Anderson in 1977, Anderson Insurance celebrates four generations of the family business.

Our firm conviction that our client's best interest is our primary responsibility is as important to us today as it was in 1939. A dedication to this conviction has lead to considerable growth through the years and the ability for Anderson Insurance to sustain its reputation for excellence throughout Porter County.

In 1997 we expanded once again to meet the needs of our clientele through the purchase of The Collins Agency of Valparaiso, a well-respected, 40-year-old firm. The former owner, Liz Collins, is now a valuable member of our team, bringing her many years of experience to assist our clients. In 2001, Northern Indiana Insurance Agency, a highly regarded Valparaiso agency, also joined Anderson Insurance. In 2007 Barth Anderson retired and we changed our name from Claudon & Anderson to Anderson Insurance.

We provide professional consultation and give our clients the kind of service they have come to expect. All full-time employees of our firm are licensed insurance agents. Anderson Insurance is dedicated to ensuring that our clients receive the maximum benefit from their insurance purchases.

In 2008, Anderson Insurance joined Keystone Insurers Group, a Pennsylvania based provider of insurance products and services. This arrangement gives our agency tremendous opportunities for providing our clients with products, markets, services, and pricing preference that would normally not be available to us. Through this association, we have been able to expand our services resulting in our clients being the beneficiaries. Keystone operates in 7 states and is ranked No. 4 on Insurance Journal's Top 100 Agencies list. Anderson Insurance is the only Keystone partner in Porter County, IN.
